Scout Car Progress

I am progressing with the Scout Car, as you can see. I have found this a tricky project as the instructions are not clear and I have had to tear it apart a few times and re-work it. Also, quite a lot of the detail is a bit soft. Still, as you can see it is coming along now.

The other side needs the wheels painted and the interior details need bringing out. Then it needs a panel wash with heavily diluted Games Workshop brown ink. Then some weathering, but not a lot, I think as I want to try a different look this time.

Once that is done, I need to find some suitable figures. I have not yet tackled any 1/35th plastic figures so that will be interesting. In the meantime, I hope to finish this by the weekend. Once this is done, I am getting back to the BR-52 - at last, did I hear my wife say?

Good result for the Lancer - then onwards

I finished the Lancer and took it to Colchester on Monday. Much to my amazement, it came 3rd! Sonia Maes did a great job on the old Airfix Draken she received, and - in spite of complaining about how dreadful it was - how she didn't ever - ever - ever want to do an aircraft again - how she tried airbrushing and didn't like it - she won the competition - so well done Sonia. To see all of the entries check out North Essex Modellers

Meanwhile, for me, it is back to the Revell Scout car that Valerie gave me for Xmas. I am finding some of the detail in the suspension and transmission is very poor and the instructions don't really help in placing any individual part, so I am constantly recovering from earlier mis-installs. However, the upper detail seems to be quite good. I am some way from finishing so it won't make Ipswich this week.

Progress on the Lancer

Only one week to go. Now the bad news (well maybe not!). I was worrying what to do with the sword and scabbard. They give you a strip of thin lead sheet to make the strap and then a collection of small cast metal bits to decorate it. I was rather worrying about this as it had a great chance of ruining the final item. Then last night I found that the scabbard had gone missing and I can't find it anywhere. Sad - but i can make him without it and have a better chance of completing it without super glue ruining it.

I have pretty much all the base colours on and some shading done on the trousers. I am not looking forward to the face but thats part of the deal.

I will keep at it.
